Refunds: Eurostar services over half term were hit by French  railway worker strikes

Eurostar is facing a backlash as passengers hit by half-term strikes struggle to get refunds.

Travellers saw their journeys disrupted over the weekend after a walk-out by French train staff caused cross-Channel services to be cancelled.

Among those hit were families returning from half-term breaks in France and beyond who were forced to book pricey flights home or stay another night. A number of passengers were then told they were not eligible for refunds despite their trains being cancelled. Disgruntled travellers took to social media to air their frustrations with one posting on X that the cancellations were an ‘utter shambles’.

A Eurostar spokesman told the Mail customers can get a full refund but said some were initially blocked from accessing a payout because they tried to do so too early.
