TV VIEWERS have been left in the lurch after a popular streaming service culled nearly a dozen new titles.

“Half of my watchlist has disappeared in the past few days,” one viewer complained on X (formerly Twitter).

“What is going on, why are you purging so much brand new content?”

According to Deadline, Paramount+ has axed nine recently added shows, including:

  • The Burning Girls
  • One Night
  • The Killing Kind
  • The Serial Killer’s Wife
  • The Doll Factory
  • The Flatshare
  • Chemistry of Death
  • Accused (in the UK and Ireland)
  • Quantum Leap (in the UK and Ireland)

Paramount confirmed the cull on X, saying: “Accused, The Serial Killer’s Wife, Quantum Leap and Fool’s Paradise have left Paramount+ UK & Ireland.”

In a memo to staff last week, execs explained that the streamer was now focusing on “Hollywood franchises, films and series which have mass global appeal,” TechRadar reported.

Goddamn this really feels like the end of television.

The move by Paramount isn’t new, or unique.

Other streamers regularly purge original content from their platforms, which analysts say is a money-saving tactic.

It means companies can avoid paying residuals if shows can’t be watched over and over again.

Netflix cut several original shows back in December, alongside Disney+ which also removed multiple original series’, including Willow, Y: The Last Man, and Pistol.

Gone are the days when viewers were certain they could finish a series they started, and enjoyed.

“Goddamn this really feels like the end of television. No room for anything original or different anymore,” another viewer complained on X.

A third person tweeted: “This is why we all left cable. High prices for multiple bundles just to get 3-5 good shows and a truckload of c**p.

“People want creative originals, shows not hindered by what advertisers say is safe.”
