AMAZON Fire Stick owners are not impressed with a recent change that shows a “loud ad” when they start-up the device.

Users have taken to social media sharing their dislike for the new feature, which was introduced at the end of 2023.

It comes amid something of an advert boom lately, with ads now appearing on Amazon Prime Video too as of this week.

Ads have been commonplace on the Amazon Fire Stick for sometime but one showing as people switch on the device is a recent addition.

And viewers have taken particular issue with how loud it is.

“Nobody has brought up the fact that the Amazon Fire Stick updated and now when you turn on your TV, you turn on the Fire Stick, it automatically plays a loud ad,” fumed TikToker Brittany.

“Doesn’t everybody know that we don’t like that?

“Now, I go to turn on my TV, and I left the volume at 30 because I was watching a quiet movie and now this loud ad is just like playing, scares the c**p out of me, scares the cats.

“Why did they think that was a good idea?

“That is absolutely ridiculous. In no world does anybody want an ad playing the second they turn on their TV.

While it’s not possible to stop the ad from appearing altogether, fellow TikTok users have revealed a trick that at least stops them from being noisy videos.

How to turn off video ads on Amazon Fire Stick

You can stop the video ad from appearing on the Amazon Fire Stick but a static advert will appear instead.

This may not be the solution gadget owners were hoping for but at least it won’t blast any sound out from now on.

To disable the start-up video ad, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Settings menu
  2. Select Preferences
  3. Tap on Featured content
  4. Switch off the Allow video autoplay option
