Launched in November 2019, it quickly became one of the most coveted gaming systems around the globe and has remained as such,

This is due to the system’s build, design, and numerous tools it comes equipped with.

One such PS5 tool includes an auto-muting setting that can turn your microphone off for you in case you forget to do it.

Auto-muting is helpful for obvious reasons, the most obvious being to prevent others from listening to your private conversation.

This is important, especially in situations when you’re sharing sensitive information with someone in your household.

Despite the importance of this, many users are unaware of how to turn this feature on, as exemplified by a Reddit thread.

“I’ve had [my P25] for over a year and didn’t know you could auto-mute the mic,” one user said on the thread.

“Kinda scary that you can forget and have someone listening in,” a second person commented.

HOW TO TURN AUTO-MUTE ON

Enabling auto-muting on your PS5’s DualSense controller means it’s off by default when you turn your console on.

To auto-mute your microphone, first head to Settings On your PlayStation 5’s home screen.

Navigate to Sound and then tap on the Microphone option.

From here, tap on Microphone Status When Logged In and set it to Mute.

That will silence your microphone so you don’t have to worry about people listening to your conversations.

OTHER HANDY TOOLS

Another helpful setting you might know about on your PS5 is Activity Cards.

Activity Cards are a quick and easy way to access parts of a game without going through the entire start-up process.

For example, you can start or resume single-player activities like side quests and trophy hunts from your dashboard.

Activity Cards also allow you to easily track your game’s progress and see completion information (such as how long a certain quest takes).

PlayStation users can access Activity Cards by hovering over a game’s icon on the Home menu.

Once you do that, press the down button and you will see on-screen card prompts.

The prompts allow you to dive into a specific stage, match, location, or moment.
