But the lifespan of the internal batteries will fade with time, meaning it’ll hold power for a lot less and will need charging more regularly.

Until that’s a reality you’re stuck with the current device.

Fortunately, there are some tricks that can help with fast-draining batteries.

Of course, the most obviously thing to do is plug in your PS5 controller to the console so it has a constant flow of power.

But the cable isn’t long enough for everyone.

Looking for a solution, one Reddit user wrote: “When my PS5 controller dies I literally have to stop gaming and charge, or I can sit near my ps5 to charge while I play.

“Does anyone know of any tips/tricks to make the battery life last longer?”

Fellow gamers shared a simple trick which is to use a power bank that’ll keep their controller going without the constraints of a short cable plugged into the PS5.

“Whaaaaaaat that’s genius I’m gonna do that from now on,” the original poster responded.

Tips to boost your PS5 controller’s battery

There are some settings you can change to boost your PS5 controller’s battery too.

  • Reduce vibration intensity
  • Turn down trigger effect intensity
  • Dim the brightness of the controller lights
  • Turn the controller speaker volume down
  • Disable the microphone

Others warned that not all power banks might work and could damage the controller’s battery further if it’s not the right volt.

So be sure to check that they match up.

“Make sure you get the right charger,” a person responded.

“Don’t use like a lightning charge or whatever they’re called, as it can damage the battery. I believe you need like a 5 volt. It’s probably just a basic charger but look it up. This idea seems genius lol.”
