JANUARY is usually a quiet month for fans, but this year has been a whole different story.

After an explosive 2023, we thought that 2024 might not have as many fantastic games, but we’ve been proven wrong.

The first big release of this month was Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown which wowed fans with its high-quality metroidvania platforming.

It received an incredible 87 rating on review aggregate site Metacritic, but another game has already toppled it.

Review scores for Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth have just rolled in and it is currently standing at an incredible 91 rating.

This will update as more reviews come in, but it is still a strong showing for the series.

However, despite how incredible the game is, people are furious about how it will launch.

Like most triple-A games these days, Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth will have a number of different editions.

While people expect deluxe editions to include a number of consumable and cosmetic items, Infinite Wealth locks a key feature behind the paywall.

The Standard Edition costs £59.99/$69.99, the Deluxe Edition costs £74.99/$84.99 and the Ultimate Edition costs £94.99/$109.99.

However, owners will be able to access New Game+ only on Deluxe and Ultimate Edition.

New Game+ is a feature in the majority of big games that gives you an incentive to play the main story again.

All of your items, gear, and weapons will carry over into your new playthrough of the game.

There is a worrying trend for big games to remove features that were previously considered standard.

People are afraid that if fans see this paywalling as acceptable, publishers will continue to remove other features from the standard editions of games in the future.
