THOUSANDS of users experienced issues accessing Plusnet on Monday evening.

Over 30,000 Plusnet customers reported outages with the internet service just after 4:50 pm GMT, according to Downdetector.

A majority of the reported problems were associated with the landline internet, however, 14% of customers had no signal, while 11% were in total blackout.

London, Edinburgh, Bristol, Birmingham, Manchester, and Watford experienced the most reports.

Plusnet confirmed to The Sun that the broadband issue was resolved around 6 pm. The internet service fixed the connectivity problem within two hours.

“Earlier today some customers were unable to use their broadband. This issue has been resolved and they are back online. We are very sorry for any inconvenience caused,” a Plusnet spokesperson confirmed.

    Plusnet recommends the following tips to maximize the strongest connection, by placing your router:

    • In an open space and not on the floor
    • Close to your computer
    • Away from thick walls, metal objects, or electrical appliances
  • Selecting the best WiFi channel

    There are two WiFi bands Plusnet users can connect to – 2.4GHz and 5GHz.

    Plusnet routers will automatically connect to the best performing channel.

    It is not recommended to manually choose a WiFi channel.

    If your connectivity is still down despite no outage in your area, Plusnet advises customers to restart their hub.

    You can restart your hub by turning it off, shutting down your devices, and waiting at least 30 seconds before turning everything back on.

    Connecting too many devices at once can also slow your broadband down.

    Customers can also check their WiFi kit for tips.
