GAMING is an expensive hobby, with everyone trying to get the most bang for their buck.

However, this isn’t always the easiest – who knows if you’ll end up sinking hundreds of hours into a pricey game like Diablo 4, or just end up deep in the mines of Stardew Valley all over again.

PS Plus is worth more, but Game Pass could have better value.

While game length or price don’t always give you a great sense of value, it can be a good place to start looking.

Luckily, The Loadout has crunched the numbers so we can see the comparative value of PlayStation Plus versus its competitor, Xbox Game Pass.

At first glance, PlayStation comes out as the clear winner, offering subscribers more games, with a higher buy-in price.

PlayStation added more than 200 games to its PS Plus Essential, Extra and Premium tiers this year, which equals around $8k (£6.3k) worth of games.

More in Xbox

By comparison, Xbox Game Pass added 150 games to its subscription, coming out to around $5k (£4k) in value.

Just looking at the numbers, it may seem like PlayStation is the winner here, but not all $70/£70 games are created equal.

Xbox has a huge advantage over PlayStation in a way that is far more valuable than just adding up prices.

One of the main selling points of Xbox Game Pass is that you can play a huge number of games the day they are released.

Most read in Gaming

Starfield, Lies of P, Like A Dragon: Ishin!, Cocoon, Jusant, and Forza Motorsport are just some of the big-name games from this year that were available as soon as they were released.

PlayStation has decided to keep big releases until later, hoping that players will purchase them in the meantime.

This means that PlayStation-exclusive games like Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 and Final Fantasy 16 were not available on any subscription service.

While games are still good long after they are released, many enjoy the hype of playing a game as soon as it’s out.

This is when many people start playing, and when discussion surrounding a game is at its height.

If you’re the sort of player who likes to join in with the hype then Xbox Game Pass is probably worth more despite the relative price difference.
