THE ‘world’s first portable microwave turned beer cooler’ is currently being paraded at the famed Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2024 in Las Vegas this week.

CES is considered the tech event of the year, revealing all the sparkly electronics that are set to hit the shelves in the coming months.

From Japanese brand Willtex, the Willcook bag can reach a maximum of 250C, 90C in just ten minutes, and 130C in 20 minutes.

For comparison, a normal microwave in comparison has an average cooking temperature of 100C.

Once food is heated, the layers of insulation mean that the food item inside can remain at 60C for two hours – even if the device is switched off.

So, all wearers need to do is put their homemade grub in a Tupperware, slip it in the bag, and later use the Willcook smartphone app to choose the heat setting.

The shoulder bag will then heat up your lunch while you’re on the move.

A cotton and aluminium outer layer shields wearers from the heat.

The smart-tech accessory doesn’t just reheat or cook food, but the outer layer that protects the wearer from burns can be used to keep things inside the bag cool.

For example, it’ll keep a pack of beers at a around 4C to 8C for up to three hours.

The bag weighs just 280g, and is just as washable just like any other cloth bag.

Meanwhile, a fully charged battery can last up to eight hours.

It’s target audience appears to be anyone from the 9-5 commuter faction, to adventurers who like a slice of luxury.

Willtex aims to release the product in the UK in May, and it will be available on Amazon priced between £120 to £150.
