PLAYSTATION gamers can pick up one of “the best” shoot em’ up titles under the Sony umbrella for just a third of its original price.

Rolling Gunner and its ‘super expansion’ Over Power DLC are currently available as a duo for just £7.49 on the PlayStation Store.

That’s 70 per cent less than the original £24.99 price tag of the pair.

Although the pair will return to full price when the offer ends midnight on 17 January.

The two-strong deal has secured a 4.71 star rating on the PlayStation Store, and a whopping 89/100 on Metacritic – a site where both players and critics can review games.

The PEGI 7 title lets players take flight in a space craft RF-42R STORK which carries the Rolling Gun, a special weapon that was built in secret to fight against BAC in the event of a crisis.

Much to players’ dismay, Rolling Gunner is a one-player.

There is no multiplayer-mode available, even online.

According to a GameSpew review on Metacritic, fans of the ‘shoot ’em up’ genre will find the Rolling Gunner and Overpower duo “a treat”.

“Everything about it – from visuals to gameplay – is top-notch, ensuring that you have a big grin on your face from the moment you boot it up until you decide to turn it off,” say experts at GameSpew.

“But the amount of difficulty options here, and the features introduced by the Overpower DLC, make this accessible to newcomers, too.

“We reckon this will be remembered as a classic in years to come.”

Meanwhile, PlayStation Country called it “possibly the best shoot ’em up on PSN.”

Although it’s a “really cool” take on the so-called ‘shmup’ genre – it’s not as long as some may have hoped.

According to XGN, Rolling Gunner “is a really cool shmup”.

“The game gives you a big spree from the start and lets you battle huge bosses with bullet hell guns,” XGN’s review wrote.

“Unfortunately the game is really short and there is no co-op mode available.

“Still, this is a game you must play, even if the price is a bit high.”
