DESPITE being a third-party game with no licensing deal, the best game of 2023 wasn’t originally released on Xbox consoles.

It was first available for PC and PS5 users, leading to Xbox players feeling like they were missing out.

However, when Baldur’s Gate 3 was awarded a number of prizes, including the coveted Game of the Year title at The Game Awards 2023, it was announced that it would finally arrive on Xbox.

The reason for the delay was that Baldur’s Gate 3 is a popular multiplayer game, and Larian Studios could not get the local co-op play to function on the Xbox Series S.

Xbox demands full parity between the powerful Xbox Series X and budget Series S, so games can’t be released on one console without the other.

This led to delays while the studio tried to figure out how to make multiplayer work.

Since December 6 Xbox players have been able to purchase and play Baldur’s Gate 3, but the delay hasn’t fixed every issue.

Many players have complained that the game doesn’t always save properly, meaning that their save data is lost.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is one of the biggest games released last year both in terms of popularity and length.

It can take hundreds of hours to finish your playthrough, meaning it is impossible to complete without saving.

Larian Studios is aware of the error and is currently working on ways to fix the error.

It suggests enabling cross-save, and this will upload save data to the cloud, giving an extra backup to players.

However, it will take some time before the error is fully fixed, as fewer people are available at the studio during the holiday period.

It is suggested that Xbox players hold off on purchasing Baldur’s Gate 3 until the issue is resolved.
