Usman Khawaja’s renewed attempt to highlight the plight of the people of Gaza by displaying a humanitarian message on his equipment during a Test match has been denied by the International Cricket Council.

Australia’s opener was photographed with the image of a dove holding an olive branch – a universal symbol of peace – on the back of his bat and on his right shoe while training in the MCG nets on Christmas Eve.
