STEAM has taken a turn recently, removing a number of controversial games from the storefront.

The removal comes right after another developer, Fntastic, removed The Day Before just days after a cataclysmic launch.

The two games now removed from the Steam store come from legendary developer Peter Molyneux.

Molyneux has been in the industry for a very long time, working on hugely popular series like Fable.

However, since starting his own studio, 22cans, there have been a number of controversial gaming releases.

It started with the Curiosity Cube, a mobile game where players had to tap into the centre for a special prize.

Once at the centre, the winner was promised a cut of the profits for the upcoming game Godus, but these funds never emerged.

Both Godus and spin-off Godus Wars were removed from Steam before Godus even left Early Access.

Godus had ‘Very Negative’ reviews citing a lack of content and a huge number of bugs.

A statement from 22cans reads: “22cans would like to share important news regarding our games, Godus and Godus Wars.

“Regrettably, due to an upcoming technical change to Amazon Web Services, affecting our ability to serve necessary game files to new users, these titles are to be withdrawn from the Steam store.

“Please be assured that existing players can continue to enjoy these games without interruption.”

Godus was never completed despite big promises from 22cans, and the company has already moved on to working on its next project.

Just over one year ago 22cans announced a land sale for its upcoming NFT project Legacy, selling £40million worth of land for the unreleased game.

Since the land sale, there haven’t been updates on Legacy. There is no new footage or a release date for it.
