ANDROID phone owners will soon be able to hide private apps so no-one even knows they’re there.

It could prove particularly useful if you have a dating app you don’t want family to know about or an embarrassing game.

Google – which runs Android – is reportedly working on a brand new tool that would allow people to hide whatever app they like.

According to early release notes for a future Android update, the feature is known as Private Space.

Some phones like Samsung and OnePlus already have their own version of this.

But should the beta notes come true, all Android users could find themselves using the perk sometime in the future.

“Hide private apps in a secure space that only you can access,” the note apparently reads.

It seems the Private Space will show up as a new icon at the bottom of the app drawer by default, reports 9to5Google.

But there will also be a way to hide it from here too for even greater privacy.

And better still, the apps won’t appear in any searches once they’re part of the Private Space.

Users need not worry about notifications popping up from their secret apps either, so long as Private Space is locked.

Nor will sneaky snoopers be able to find a trace of it in the permission manager, privacy dashboard, and other settings.

For the moment, Google is still very much testing the feature.

So it may not be released to the public until Android 15 next year.
