WHERE you place your Wi-Fi router in the home can impact its speed significantly.

Sometimes it’s hard to find the best location so we’ve rounded up two spots you should avoid.

The first spot involves your neighbor’s home.

It applies to people who share a wall with a neighbor or live in very close proximity.

If your Wi-Fi router happens to be near there’s, you may both find your speed is reduced.

That’s because both routers will be emitting competing signals.

This is particularly a problem if you have thin walls.

If you’re on good terms you could ask them where they place their router.

Then, make sure to put your own box far away from it.

When you live in an apartment building it can be more difficult to do this so you may have to rely on other tricks.

The second spot to avoid involves gadgets in your home.

You may think having multiple pieces of Wi-Fi equipment in your home boosts speeds but they can be detrimental if they’re close together.

Having two or more routers in your home can result in interference.

It’s best to keep them far apart so they serve different areas.

The same applies to other devices that emit competing signals.

This includes smart speakers and baby monitors.
