THE bonuses just keep coming for Samsung devices – with a looming update rumoured to offer generative AI wallpapers.

Samsung recently rolled out a sparkly new operating system under the title One UI 6.0 – also known as Android 14 for Google Pixel owners.

The UI 6.0 perks are largely the same for Samsung and Google device owners – albeit obvious upgrades to the Samsung-exclusive Galaxy Enhance-X app.

But newly leaked images of the soon-to-roll-out One UI 6.1 – from tech commentator @BennettBuhner on X – suggest a popular Google Pixel 8 and 8 Pro feature is coming to Galaxy phones, according to 9to5Google.

Generative AI is an artificial intelligence model that can generate high quality text, images – and in this case, wallpapers, at the drop of a hat.

All users need to do is give it a few text-based prompts, such as ‘floral sketches’ or ‘3D rendering of a galaxy’.

9to5Google essentially called the Android AI feature ‘the main selling point’ of Google’s Pixel 8 series.

It gives users the power to create their own unique wallpapers designs using AI – where no two wallpapers are alike.

Of course, there are a few restrictions, including a limited selection of categories to choose from and the fact that it only works with an internet connection.

Overall, the generative AI feature is largely identical between Google and Samsung handsets – aside from a few aesthetic changes.

For example, Google’s preview is full screen whereas Samsung’s is more compact – and the Pixel says “Inspire Me” instead of “Surprise Me.”

If you’re itching for this feature to be released – fortunately you don’t have to wait long.

It’s expected to be rolled out alongside the launch of the Galaxy S24 series, which is rumoured for late January.
