A LOCAL business that has been around for over 60 years is set to be replaced by a retailing giant.
A local family-owned store in Monmouthshire will be replaced by supermarket giant Tesco.

D and M Watkins supermarket in Raglan is due to close down on Saturday, 25, November and the Tesco branch is likely to move in early next year.
For 60 years the supermarket has been a locally-owned business but with the rising cost of living people are concerned that other local businesses will follow suit.
Residents have expressed their disappointment with the closure of the Nisa supermarket online.
Many have described the staff and the shop as ‘lovely’ and say they ‘will be sorely missed’.

Another took to Facebook explaining that she felt this was another ‘loss to the food giants’.
The shop is closing despite the fact it managed to serve customers during the pandemic and many years prior.
The news was confirmed by a member of staff last week.
They wrote: “As many of you may already know D and M Watkins Nisa Supermarket will be closing on November 25.

“All stock must go therefore from Thursday, November 16 there will be 20 per cent off all groceries, chilled goods, wines, beers and ciders and 10 per cent off all spirits and large discounts on many cigarettes. Thank you.”
One resident even went as far as to call the closure ‘the end of an era’ as another local business is replaced.
Comments on social media have been praising and remembering their beloved memories of the store in years gone by.
The 60-year locally-owned business was originally opened by professional boxer Howard Winstone and has since had different owners.
The new Tesco Express according to the Argus is not expected to be open before March of next year – as a full shop refurbishment is required.
