PARENTS have been furious after discovering Aldi has axed a festive favourite after six years.

The budget supermarket is no longer selling Kevin the Carrot storybooks, and shoppers are devastated.

The Christmas tales have been an Aldi festive staple for the last six years and have been sold alongside the popular Kevin the Carrot tous.

The books have told various tales involving the beloved character, including “No Carrot Left Behind” and “Need for Swede”.

Shoppers have been able to pick up the books for around £2.99.

An Aldi spokesperson told The Sun: “While he isn’t making a return in book form this year, our 2023 Kevin the Carrot range has been extremely popular with his fans – featuring new characters and friends, pyjamas and even a golden Kevin.”

Shoppers have taken to social media to share their disappointment over the decision.

Posting in the Aldi Shopper UK Facebook group, one shopper said: “Such a shame, my son loves the books.”

Another added: “I’m not sure why they’re not doing them. We love getting them.”

A third said: “My kids are going to be gutted as Aldi isn’t doing Kevin the Carrot books this year.”

Another took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to ask Aldi why the books won’t return, writing: “Hey Aldi, why isn’t there a Kevin the Carrot book this year?

“I love reading it to my children. It starts Christmas off for my son. What happened?”

Aldi’s sell-out Kevin the Carrot toys returned to stores earlier this month, and shoppers queued from 4am to get their hands on them.

The range of course includes Kevin, as well as William Conker and friends, who all star in Aldi’s Christmas advert.

But shoppers were left confused over “confusing” buying limit rules introduced for the toys.

Aldi clarified the rules and said the limit is two of each character per customer.

From today, shoppers can also get their hands on an authentic 3D Christmas mug also inspired by Kevin the Carrot.

Accompanied by grate grandpa, Kevin embarks on his tour of the festive goodie-filled plant, encountering all sorts of mischievous characters on the way – including dancing plumty-dumptys and a spoilt little sprout.

The ad concludes with the charming closing message: “Seasonal goodwill was truly in the air as Christmas is a time that’s sweeter when you share”.

Aldi has already revealed that a new Kevin-themed chocolate range is available in stores.

This includes hollow chocolate characters and ice creams along with the return of the advent calendar with prices starting from £1.09.
