APPLE is reportedly readying a surprise iPhone upgrade that is expected to land in a matter of days and could fix Wi-Fi issues.

The upcoming update is expected to be squeezed in before the confirmed iOS 17.2 upgrade.

But according to Forbes, the mystery update could exist to fix older problems, such as the iOS 17 Wi-Fi flaw

The latest iOS release available to iPhones is iOS 17.1.1, which rolled out to devices on 7 November.

But according to MacRumors, analytic logs have recorded evidence that Apple is internally testing a new iOS 17.1.2 update.

Little is known about the contents of the update.

Evidence of its existence first appeared just days ago, which suggests that the release itself could be ready soon, Forbes reported.

The title iOS 17.1.2 suggests the update is not one of Apple’s Rapid Security Response updates.

The previous update didn’t accidentally introduce any issues or bugs into the operating system that urgently needed a patch, either.

But according to Forbes, the mystery update could exist to fix older problems, such as the iOS 17 Wi-Fi flaw.

Reports of Wi-fi connectivity issues have swirled since iOS 17 first dropped in September.

After installing September’s update, iPhone owners reported slow speeds, dropped connections and content not loading even while connected to a broadband network.

However, experts expected these Wi-Fi woes to be tackled in the upcoming iOS 17.2.

Either way, the surprise update is forecast to roll out to compatible iPhones next week.
