And replacing the battery when it no longer charges will cost you money.

But fortunately there are some easy tricks that can help your battery last longer.

TikTok user Tenorshare_techtips has shared a little-known button that could be the answer to their 65,000 followers.

The option is called protect battery.

It cleverly limits the charge of your battery to 85 per cent to extend its overall lifespan.

To switch it on, go to your Android settings and find Battery.

Head to More battery settings and switch on Protect battery at the bottom.

This setting may be labelled differently depending on the Android smartphone you have.

There are other ways to boost your battery’s life too.

Reduce screen brightness

Screen brightness is one of the most power-hungry things your smartphone can do in the shortterm.

And it’ll gradually wear on the battery’s overall lifespan over time too.

So consider reducing the backlight down.

Your eyes will thank you for it as well.

Don’t leave it charging endlessly

Once your phone is charged up it’s best to remove it from the power cable.

Lithium-ion batteries are best kept 50 to 80 per cent charged.

Therefore, leaving it charging all the time will cause it to bounce between 99 per cent and 100 per cent.

Charging in short bursts during the day is better to preserve your battery life.

Given that people tend to charge their phones overnight, you’re more likely to hit that 100 per cent maximum, so how about charging in the evening right before bed to keep it in that 50 to 80 sweet spot?

That’s assuming you can’t find the protect battery setting set out above.
