To avoid this you can try a simple disconnecting trick.

Make sure your router isn’t already overloaded by disconnecting unused devices.

This includes avoiding leaing streaming services running when not in use.

You should also avoid leaving game consoles on and avoid big downloading big updates for your devices when you have guests.

It’s worth updating the password on your Wi-Fi router so you don’t have unwanted guests on your network.

Having strangers using your Wi-Fi will also slow you down.

When you do want to give out your Wi-Fi detials to guests, try setting up a separate password for them.

This is something that the FBI recommends for security reasons.

The US security agency explains: “Many routers let you set up a guest network with a different name and password.

“It’s a good security move for two reasons.”

The first reason is the most obvious and it’s that the less people that know you’re password the better.

The FBI’s second reason is slightly more concerning.

Some guests could be accidentally bringing malware into your home and spreading it via your router.

Most routers allow you to set up a guest network.

Check your device manual or settings to find as the method can differ depending on what router you have.
