GTA 6 boss angers fans with wild comments – here’s how it could cost you money

GTA 6 is one of the world’s most anticipated games right now, with fans waiting over a decade since the last game was first released.

Rockstar recently set the internet alight by announcing that the first GTA 6 trailer will be released in early December.

However, very little has been officially announced about the upcoming sequel, with most details about the game kept behind locked doors.

New comments from the CEO of GTA publisher Take-Two have many fans concerned about how much GTA 6 could cost.

Strauss Zelnick claims that the way we currently price games is wrong, and a new model should be adapted.

Currently, big-budget games usually sell for around £70 ($70), with a premium edition that offers in-game items and early access for around £100 ($100).

Games from smaller development teams will usually be lower in price, selling for around £15 – £30 ($20 – $40) each.

However, Zelnick doesn’t think there should be a catch-all cost for big games, and rather they should be priced individually.

He believes there should be a cost-per-hour of entertainment the game provides, and then an extra cost depending on how popular it is with customers.

He says: “In terms of our pricing for any entertainment property, basically the algorithm is the value of the expected entertainment usage.

“[This] is to say the per hour value times the number of expected hours plus the terminal value that’s perceived by the customer in ownership, if the title is owned rather than rented or subscribed to.”

What he is basically saying is that no matter the quality of a game, longer games should be more expensive.

This means that shorter, more focused games like Resident Evil 4 should be cheaper than bloated games like Gotham Knights, which are filled with bland side quests.

GTA games are known for their huge size, suggesting that Zelnick thinks GTA 6 should be more expensive than most games.
