THE Google Drive is getting a much-needed makeover that will make it much easier – and faster – for users to navigate.

The cloud storage platform is used by around one billion people to back-up work projects, presentations, CVs and similar files.

The update should be available for download on Android devices imminently.

When users open the app following the update, they will be greeted with a refreshed homepage and layout that Google said “will help you more easily find the right file much faster”.

“An updated suggested view will allow you to see even more recommended files at once, such as those that have been recently opened, shared or edited,” Google added.

The Notifications tab has been replaced with an Activity tab.

It will show all the same stuff, such as pending access requests, recent comments and awaiting approvals.

If you are one of Google Drive’s web user, you’ll be familiar with this change.

The Activity tab was recently launched on the desktop version of the platform.

The update is not just for Android users, though.

iPhone users on iOS will also receive the update – but a slightly after Android owners.

All Android devices should have the updated version of Google Drive available to download by November 21.

While iPhone users should be able to get the new features by November 25.

Google has offered more before-and-after pictures in a Workspace Update blog post to help familiarise users.
