From Lil Nas X’s ‘Old Town Road’ to Megan Thee Stallion‘s ‘Savage’, many songs have shot to fame through TikTok

Until now, finding the names of these viral hits and saving them to listen again later hasn’t exactly been a smooth process.

But you can finally wave goodbye to the days of frantically Googling lyrics, as a handy new tool has launched this week.

The tool allows you to save those catchy songs you hear in TikTok videos directly to your Spotify, without having to search for them.

Here’s how to try the new tool yourself.

The new tool is called ‘Add to Music App’, and was announced by TikTok this week.

As the name suggests, it allows you to automatically save songs from TikTok to your music streaming service of choice, whether it’s Spotify or Amazon Music.

‘TikTok is already the world’s most powerful platform for music discovery and promotion, which helps artists connect with our global community to drive engagement with their music,’ said Ole Obermann, Global Head of Music Business Development at TikTok.

‘Add to Music App takes this process a step further, creating a direct link between discovery on TikTok and consumption on a music streaming service.’

To use the new feature, simply open the TikTok app and browse until you reach a video where you’d like to save the song.

Next to the track details at the bottom of the video, you should now see a new ‘Add Song’ option.

Tap this, and you’ll be prompted to choose your preferred music streaming service.

Select either Spotify or Amazon Music, and then whether you’d like to add the track to a new, existing, or default playlist.

Sten Garmark, Vice President, Global Head of Consumer Experience at Spotify, added: ‘No matter where you are, or the moment you’re in, we want to create less work to get to the audio you love.

‘That means being everywhere our users are and creating seamless ways to save songs to Spotify to enjoy when and how they choose to listen.’

The new tool is available now in the US and UK, with broader rollout to come.
