The Caramac bar is a caramel-flavoured chocolate bar – its name is derived from the syllabic abbreviation of caramel and Mackintosh’s which originally manufactured it

The iconic flavour came into play in the late 1950s with other variations making their way onto shop shelves too including a limited edition Caramac Kit Kat bar and Caramac buttons.

It was a bakery that originally broke the news on Facebook explaining their unique Caramac eclairs would soon cease to exist.

Paula of Pastel Bakery said online: “So it’s a sad day, it’s official, there will be no more Caramac bars off the production line, it’s been cancelled so I bought as many boxes as I could!

“They should last a while (I hope) but once they are gone, there will be no more Caramac eclairs! And no Caramilk or Milkybar gold are not the same!!!  #dontcancelmycaramac.”

The post quickly went viral with over 2.5million views and thousands of comments.

Facebook users flocked to share their devastation that the Caramac bar would soon disappear for good.

One user said: “Noooo. I’m still not over the Topic going!.”

Another declared: “Long live Caramac.”

“Bl**dy travesty,” said a third.

A fourth user said: “No no no! I love this stuff.”

“No way! I buy these every week! So dissapointed! Why do they get rid of the good ones?” someone else asked.

Some fans said they weren’t even prepared to accept the news. One user suggested: “Let’s get a petition going.”

A Nestle spokesperson told The Sun: “We are very sorry to disappoint fans of Caramac. There has been a steady decline in its sales over the past few years and we had to make the difficult decision to discontinue it.

“We know fans will be disappointed to see it go, but this change will enable us to focus on our best-performing brands, as well as develop exciting new innovations to delight our consumers’ tastebuds.”

If you are interested in getting a Caramac bar before it’s completely gone there are a few options.

Sainsbury’s is currently selling the 30g bar for 75p in stores and online.

Iceland has a three-bar multipack for £1.25 as well, but there’s no telling how quickly these will sell out after the announcement so take heed.

The Caramac bar has been added to a long list of many chocolate bars we’ll be saying goodbye to this year.

Caburys quietly scrapped the popular Dairy Milk 30 per cent less sugar bar earlier this year which is no longer available for purchase.

Choc fans are only just realising the iconic Topic bar is missing from shelves.

Nestle has already axed the beloved Carnation Extra Thick Cream and shoppers say the move has “ruined family desserts”.

In other news, B&M shoppers are going wild for “delicious” hot chocolate based on iconic flavour.
