Officers confirm hunt for Michael Whitbread, 74, after body of Michele Faiers, 66, found at home in Abruzzo

Police in Italy are searching for a British national suspected of killing his partner, whose body was found with stab wounds at her home in the Abruzzo region.

He has been identified as Michael Dennis Whitbread, 74, originally from Torquay. A police source confirmed that a search for Whitbread was launched after the body of Michele Faiers, 66, also British, was found in her home near the town of Casoli on Wednesday morning. She had several stab wounds to her abdomen, and is believed to have died four for five days earlier.
