But after the dad-of-one realised he had won, the first person he called was his girlfriend’s brother.

“Having never played before I asked Connie [Sam’s girlfriend] to take a look,” he said.

“But like me, she had never played before so we called her brother Craig, who’d played the National Lottery for years.”

The former Army engineer from Leamington Spa hilariously explained that he had come up with his genius two-step plan for how he’d spend the money with Craig.

His first wholesome priority was to put down a deposit for a new family home, for him and Connie.

Secondly, he decided to get his driving license.

“I haven’t passed my test and with a small family I need wheels, maybe a BMW 1 series.,” he said.

“The win will allow me to learn to drive and get a car straight away – which is amazing.”

The young father will receive a huge paycheck of £10,000 a month over the course of the next year in the Set For Life draw.

Sam won the whopping prize while he lounged in his bathroom after deciding to download the Lotto app on a whim while taking a bath.

Speaking on the moment he realised he had netted the prize, he said: “I was in the bath and just thought that I’d have a go”.

He recalled seeing Dean Weymes celebrating his mega win of £10,000 every month for 30 years in 2019 and thought he would give the game of luck a go himself.

“I downloaded the National Lottery app in the bath, put a tenner in my account, and then played a Lucky Dip,” he revealed.

Just two hours after entering, his phone was filled with messages that informed him of his incredible win.

It comes after one lucky punter who landed £83,000 on the lottery revealed how she almost got nothing.

Tamsin Burling, 33, says she learned a big lesson after scooping the massive sum in the People’s Postcode Lottery.

A whole neighbourhood also won an incredible £11.2million in the People’s Postcode Lottery.

In what is thought to be the biggest win for the whole of Kent yet, officials visited the area last month to hand over residents’ whopping cheques.

And one mystery lotto winner scooped more than a staggering £400,000 on EuroMillions and revealed how he was going to spend it.
