YOUR iPhone’s camera app was quietly updated – and you may not have noticed.
A seriously useful feature was added right under your nose last month.

It was bundled into September’s iOS 17 update for iPhone, which introduced dozens of handy changes.
And one of them is a line that appears when you take photos.
It’s sometimes yellow and at other times white – and it’s there to help you.
What you’re actually looking at is a camera level.
This digital level reveals if the shot you’re taking is straight.
That’s especially useful if you’re shooting something with prominent straight lines, like a piece of art or a horizon.
It might be already on for you, but you can check by going into Settings > Camera and toggling Level on.
When you’re taking a photo, the line will be white until the image is level.

And once it’s level, the line will turn yellow – signalling that it’s time to hit the shutter button.
If you can’t see the Level feature in your Settings app then you might not have iOS 17 installed.
To get it, just go to Settings > General > Software Update.

Of course there are plenty of other great features to enjoy in iOS 17.
For instance, last week we revealed how the Clock app now supports multiple timers.
Unlock your iPhone and open the Clock app, then tap on the Timers tab.
Start a timer when tap on the plus icon in the top-right corner – and you’ll be able to add another timer.
You could choose a custom timer set for a specific duration, a preset timer, or to repeat a recent timer.
And it’s possible to edit the label and sound for each timer.
You can also delete a timer that’s running or paused by swiping left on it and tapping Delete.
And Apple has also added a new feature to iMessage: swipe to reply.

But it’s now possible to swipe to reply on any iMessage that you’ve sent or received in the default Messages app too.
