CEO Sam Guttman and CTO Adrian Kunzle exclusively told The U.S. Sun some tips that you can apply to your own phone and data.

Whether you’re an Android or iPhone user, it’s worth taking note to avoid two major mistakes.

Guttman and Kunzle think people forget to apply research and control to their own app downloads.

Kunzle told us: “People have to do their own research.

“This is where the days when we used to go to libraries and understand how to do research was really important and that is still relevant today.

“You need to go and look at some of these things and there’s information out there that will help you make a decision.”

Tech experts usually recommend reading the reviews and researching the company behind an app before downloading.

Failing to do so puts your personal data and even your financial information at risk.

If you do download an app that you’re suspicious of, Guttman advises controlling what data you provide it with.

He said: “If you don’t trust the app, why are you posting certain data on the app?

“So I think it’s more control your own information.”

If in doubt, it’s always best to delete suspicious apps from your phone.

The Apple App Store and Google Play Store put a lot of measures in place to ensure malicious apps aren’t available to download.

Occasionally, a few rogue apps slip through the security nets so it’s best to be vigilant with what you purchase.
