Speaking on The Martin Lewis Podcast, Martin explained industry giants Argos, Morrisons and Tesco are all slashing stock prices in half.

“Pre-Christmas preparations, we see the big supermarkets doing some really cheap toy sales in advance, to get some toy stock out of the way,” he said.

“We don’t necessarily see the same discounts later.

“So savvy money savers who know what they want for their children often find these a really lucrative way to buy what they need at a much cheaper price.”

The MSE revealed these three stores have up to 50 per cent off selected ranges of toys.

He added: “This is a good time to see if they have what you want at a reduced price.”

But, Martin also reminded bargain hunters to check prices in other shops to make sure their discount is real.

Another helpful Christmas tip, shared by the expert, involved Boots’ beauty advent calendars.

There are four of the festive treats flying off the shelves – and they could save shoppers a fortune.

Martin explained: “Three of them cost £55, but when we valued the contents inside there was over £200 worth of No7 in there.

“The ultimate calendar costs £150, but would cost £486 if you were to buy the items separately.

“You can rip them up and hand them out individually as presents, they’re always popular with money savers.”

This comes as Martin Lewis revealed a simple hack to get a free £175 in your account before Christmas.

And, Sainsbury’s is also set to launch a huge toy sale in the run-up to Christmas.

Plus, the exact best days to shop between now and Christmas that could save you hundreds have been revealed.

And, the MSE offered his “golden rules” for anyone with a savings account and how taking action could make you hundreds.
