According to the experts at High Speed Internet, you should restart your router every few months.

They wrote: “We recommend rebooting your equipment regularly—at least once every few months.

“But keep in mind that doing this will leave you without internet for a few minutes, so plan to restart your equipment at a time when no one needs an internet connection.”

A reboot simply means you need to restart the router.

Turning it on an off again can be as simple as pressing the off button but you should be careful to wait before turning it back on.

Some experts even recommend unplugging the router from a power source.

You should be waiting anywhere between 30 seconds to a minute before turning it back on.

High-Speed Internet recommends waiting 30 seconds.

This helps to ensure the electrical circuit inside the device has had time to stop.

Digital Trends recommends waiting for a whole minute.

The glitches your router has been experiencing can be solved by the reboot.

However, if your Wi-Fi is still slow you may need to consider other options.

Your router could just be in the wrong position in your house.

Try using a Wi-Fi dead zone app to find problem areas in your home.
