Major supermarket starts selling wedding dresses for just £22 amid cost of living crisis – so would you wear one?

Brides-to-be can now walk down the aisle at Sainsbury’s and pick up their wedding dress for just £22.

The supermarket’s fashion brand Tu has launched two white gowns, available in sizes 8-24.

A sleeveless, pleated number is £22 while a white bias-cut option is £50.

There is even a £68 trouser suit for the modern bride.

With the average bridal gown costing £1,350, the Sainsbury’s numbers are a snip.

It is predicted couples will have to fork out, on average, £24,710 for their big day next year – up from £24,109 in 2023.

But Sarah Arnold shows how to cut costs with a dress and groom’s suit for just £181.50 at the supermarket.

The average cost of a suit is £300, yet Tu is offering this charcoal Herringbone jacket, £60, matching trousers, £28, waistcoat, £28, five pack of shirts, £45 (£9 each), tie £2.50 and shoes, £32. TOTAL: £159.50

Sainsbury’s has a white, sleeveless, pleated gown at £22, or there’s a bias-cut one at £50.

Both are a snip when compared to the average wedding dress cost of £1,350.

There is also a bridal trouser suit featuring a double-breasted jacket and wide-legged trousers at £68.
