Poundland’s new online shop has gone live

Alongside customer favourites such as food and drink, household cleaning and health and beauty ranges, Poundland.co.uk has an extensive Halloween shop on offer.

Anyone previously visiting Poundland.co.uk would only be able to see what was available in stores – it was essentially a stock-checking website.

However, shoppers could still bag items online via Pounshop.com which was bought by Poundland’s owner Pepco back in March 2022.

But the two sites have now merged, meaning shoppers can buy more Poundland products online.

The retailer recruited 120 new roles at its Darton food hub in South Yorkshire to help with its online expansion.

“This is an important milestone in the development of our digital business,” said Poundland director of digital Tom Hill.

“I’d like to thank the teams at Walsall, Wednesbury and Darton for their amazing efforts to open up Poundland.co.uk – a big milestone for our growing online business.

“These are exciting times in Poundland as we give our customers more ways to shop with us and offer them more value, wherever they are in the UK.”

Customers can continue to shop at all 850 Poundland stores and can locate their nearest on the Poundland website.

If you are shopping in-store it’s important to make a note of how you can save money at the retailer.

The move comes after Aldi decided to AXE online shopping for its Specialbuys.

Meanwhile, Primark has shied away from offering a fully shoppable website, instead showing stock availability in stores and offering a trial of click and collect.

Poundland has more than 800 stores across the country and is opening 50 more this year.

How can I save money when shopping at Poundland?

It’s not just about looking for the cheapest items in Poundland – there are other ways to save money at the retailer.

You should visit first thing in the morning when your local branch will be fully stocked from the day before.

Meanwhile, it’s always worth checking out the clearance shelves – even in Poundland you can get items for cheaper than usual.

Where the clearance shelf is will vary from store to store, so if you’re not sure where it is, ask a staff member.

You can always check prices on the Poundland website too – if you find a product online at a certain price and it’s not that in your local branch, you can ask a manager whether they can price match for you.

They aren’t obliged to, but it’s always worth asking.
