A provider of support and make-up vehicles used on sets for UK films and TV shows saw its half-year profits more than double amid booming demand for British facilities.

But ADF warned that ongoing strike action in Hollywood was starting to hit the business as multiple filming projects were put on hold.

The firm’s facilities have supported major productions, including the latest series of Netflix’s The Crown.

ADF reported a pre-tax profit of £2.7million for the six months to the end of June, up from £1.3million last year, while revenues jumped to £21.8million from £12.6million.

The company flagged ‘increased demand’ for its trailers and trucks during the period from US giants including Disney, Apple and Amazon as they tried to bolster their library of streaming content.

But ADF admitted that the strikes by actors and writers in Hollywood was weighing on its performance in the second half of the year, with filming of several productions involving the firm suspended until 2024.

Shares in ADF dropped 2.3 per cent, or 1.2p, to 51p yesterday.
