Hurricane Idalia is headed for Florida’s Gulf Coast.

As of Tuesday night, Idalia is a Category 2 hurricane with wind speeds reaching 110 miles per hour.

Forecasts show the storm strengthening to Category 4 before making landfall early Wednesday, with wind speeds capable of snapping trees, damaging houses and knocking out electricity

The National Hurricane Center is warning of “catastrophic impacts” from storm surge, and as of Tuesday night, parts of Florida’s Big Bend region could see up to 16 feet of storm surge.
