AMAZON Alexa speakers are great for entertainment purposes but they can also help you out at home.

There are plenty of little-known Alexa voice commands and some could improve your home experience with the speakers.

ALEXA CAN WELCOME YOU HOME

Alexa can greet you when you come home every day.

Try saying “Alexa, I’m home!” when you arrive.

The speaker should say: “Welcome home. I hope you’re having a good day.”

The speaker can also say goodnight to you and tells you to sleep well.

Alexa is also good at helping with conversations with friends.

Try saying “Alexa, change the subject” and the speaker will come up with a topic you can talk about.

ALEXA CREATES SHOPPING LISTS

Amazon’s Alexa can keep a running list of items you need to buy, which will be stored in your mobile app.

That makes for easy viewing once you’re actually in the supermarket.

Whenever you think of something you need to buy you can just tell Alexa.

For example, you can say: “Alexa, add cheese to my shopping list.”

ALEXA CAN SET THE MOOD

You can also get Alexa to control the lighting in your home.

This is easy to do if you have smart light bulbs connected to your Amazon Alexa app.

Once set up, you can say things like “Alexa, dim the lights” or “Alexa, turn the light on.”

This is useful when you’re in a rush and don’t have time to turn the lights off before you leave.
