Wilko crashed into administration last week, putting 400 stores and 12,000 jobs at risk

Wilko could disappear from the High Street as potential bidders look to hoover up its shops for their own brands in the wake of its collapse.

The homeware discount chain crashed into administration last week, putting 400 stores and 12,000 jobs at risk.

Administrators at PwC have set a deadline of today for suitors to submit their offers to rescue the stricken firm.

But it is uncertain whether the Wilko brand will survive. Potential buyers are thought to include rivals B&M European Value Retail, Poundland, The Range and Home Bargains.

These brands are thought to be in talks to snap up all or some of the stores to add to their own estates.

Susannah Streeter at Hargreaves Lansdown said the likelihood of a full takeover was ‘considered to be slim’ due to Wilko’s perilous position on the beleaguered High Street.
