Now the platform has launched a new game controller app for iOS, as it ramps up its video gaming efforts.

It’ll eventually give subscribers a way to play games on their TV, with just their iPhone.

No snazzy console necessary.

Although Android owners may have to wait a little while longer than iPhone users.

Netflix has been tight-lipped as to which games will be available on the big screen.

The App Store listing for the game controller doesn’t reveal much, only that it is “coming soon to Netflix.”

The free app features a colourful four button set-up, not dissimilar to the XY/AB keys on PlayStation and Xbox controllers.

There’s also a movable direction toggle and a menu button at the top.

Netflix has been working on cloud streaming technology for its gaming section since at least last October, when Netflix vice president of gaming Mike Verdu revealed plans at the TechCrunch Disrupt event.

In March of this year, Netflix announced that it had 40 games slated for launch this year.

Meanwhile, 70 more are in development with its partners, alongside 16 that are being created by its in-house studio.

As well as creating its own games, Netflix is partnering with different franchises to bring those titles to subscribers – without paying any extra.

Ustwo’s Monument Valley franchise will also be joining the platform, starting with Monument Valley 1 and Monument Valley 2, according to Tech Crunch.

If you want to download the Netflix’s gaming controller app on your Apple device – iPhone, iPad or iPod touch – you’ll need to make sure your device is running iOS 15 or later.

But it might be worth holding off for the time being, as there’s no games available as of yet.
