Obsidian Flames will launch on August 11, 2023, and bring with it a whole new set of Pokémon TCG cards.

This will include six special EX cards which will have a different Tera type than usual.

So far we know there will be a Dark-type Charizard, and a Lightning-type Tyranitar.

However, many of the other new cards are still a mystery.

New Vulpix and Ninetales cards will enter the game and they could have some unique utility on certain teams.

While they don’t have any abilities, Ninetales is a Stage 1 Pokémon meaning it isn’t too difficult to set up.

Its move Nine-Tailed Dance can deal 90 damage to active or benched Pokémon, meaning it’s great if your opponent is trying to protect a damaged Pokémon.

We don’t think it will see much competitive play, but with a low retreat cost it might find its niche.

We’ve been lucky enough to get a look at one of the few full art cards that will be released with Obsidian Flames.

E4 member Poppy will be getting her own full art Supporter card.

Supporters are some of the strongest cards in the game, with Iono being one of the current most popular cards.

Poppy will allow players to move two energy cards from one Pokémon to another, which can be crucial in building up Pokémon in order to attack.

You can usually only add one energy per turn so this could be an especially strong card.
