THIS year has been the year of the remake, with many spectacular re-releases coming to modern consoles.
The year kicked off with the Dead Space remake, and was quickly followed up with the excellent Metroid Prime shadow launch.
We’ve also seen the Resident Evil 4 remake top the charts, and Nintendo shocked fans again by announcing and launching the original Pikmin games at the same time.
It seems remakes are the theme of this year, as Nintendo is continuing its streak with the Super Mario RPG remake releasing later this year.
The eagerly awaited Alone in the Dark remake will also be ready to scare us just in time for Halloween.
However, there was one remake that fans have been asking for, but no one was expecting to come out.
Red Dead Redemption has received a new rating from South Korea’s Game Rating and Administration Committee (GRAC), which was registered on June 15, 2023.
The listing on the GRAC website doesn’t tell us much about the game except that it has an 18+ rating, the same as the 2010 original.
Red Dead’s new rating is also completely separate from those of the original game and its sequel, Red Dead Redemption 2.
Many people entered the series with the second game, and want to go back and experience the original.

However, there are few opportunities to play, as Red Dead Redemption remains on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
While the rating submission does point to “changes”, it doesn’t note if these would be a remake, a remaster or just a port.
Just because a game is rated doesn’t necessarily mean it will be released, but it is usually a strong indication that a new release is planned.
