Microsoft Outlook was down across the US and other countries, leaving people unable to use Outlook as they return to work Monday morning.

DownDetector, a site that monitors online outages, showed problems hit around 10:15 am ET and mainly impacts Microsoft’s emailing service.

Users were seeing black screens and an error message that reads: Service Unavailable. HTTP Error 503. The service is unavailable.’

Outlook users shared their frustrations on Twitter about the outage that could not come at a worse time.

‘Awesome, Microsoft Outlook went down. Happy freaking Monday,’ one Twitter user posted.

Mae Kellert tweeted: ‘Being a professor is great! …until Outlook breaks down in the middle of midterm day..’

DownDetector shows Outlook was hit the hardest, followed by the website and server connection.

Nick Carey, who shared an issue report on DownDetector, said his Outlook service is coming in and out in Virginia.

While another user in New York said, they could not use the website, but the email service is working on mobile.

The total number of users impacted by Monday’s outage was unclear, but about 400 million active users exist.

Microsoft’s service status portal shows Outlook is having problems, but the company has not acknowledged the outage on its Twitter account.

Reports of the Microsoft Store being down surfaced just minutes after users were experiencing problems with Microsoft 365.

The Microsoft Store – formerly called the Windows Store – is an online marketplace for consumers to buy and download apps for desktops.
