BATTERY problems are the last thing you want on your iPhone.

And while the battery does gradually die over the years, there are some common mistakes people make that don’t help.

These are all avoidable and should help your power go a bit further.

Avoid cold temperatures

Your iPhone doesn’t like extreme temperatures.

High temperatures can cause the iPhone to overheat and need a little break.

But extreme cold also take a hit on battery.

As Apple says itself: “Using an iOS or iPadOS device in very cold conditions outside of its operating range might temporarily shorten battery life and could cause your device to turn off.

“Battery life will return to normal when you bring your device back to higher ambient temperatures.

“Your iOS or iPadOS device might not charge or could stop charging if it gets too cold.”

Screen brightness

The screen’s light uses up a lot of power.

So naturally if you’re on your iPhone a lot the battery will go quicker.

A simple way to avoid this is by turning the brightness down.

Making sure the screen switches off when you’re not using your phone will save loads too.

Rogue apps

Apps that run in the background can be really battery suckers as well.

Fortunately there’s a way to see who the culprits are.

You can check by going to the Settings and tapping Battery.

You’ll then see a list of the apps that use the most amount of battery.

Tap each one, and it’ll detail how many minutes it’s using in the background and on screen.

Poor network coverage

If you’re in a spot with poor network coverage, this can have an impact on battery too.

That’s because your phone will constantly scan for a better connection.

Try to stay on Wi-Fi wherever possible – and if your network is really bad, even consider changing to another provider.
