A FORMER nurse won £400,000 on the People’s Postcode Lottery -but her sister didn’t enter and got nothing.
Terry Young, 61, lives in a top floor flat in Mitcham, south London – one floor above her younger sister Janet Neale, 60.
She was in disbelief when a cheque for £396,694 arrived on their doorstep.
Terry was one of two winners who bought tickets in the jackpot postcode – CR4 4AG.
Another 331 people in the postcode sector CR4 4 shared a remaining £202,612 between them.
Janet, whose sister won the Millionaire Street prize draw, didn’t even know she’d entered.
She said: “This is brilliant for Terry. I can’t believe it is so much money – I thought it would only be around £10,000.
“When the Postcode Lottery came to the door, I thought it was people turning up with the new rug I’d ordered.
“I never knew Terry had joined Postcode Lottery – I wish I had joined, and I will now.”
Terry and Janet live in an end of terrace house bought nearly 100 years ago by their grandfather.

It was later converted into two flats by their dad.
Now Terry wants to redecorate her flat and book a trip to Canada.
She added: “I’ll get the flat decorated. I’m just about to get a brand new kitchen and I’ve been packing everything up – I can’t move for boxes.
“I might also go to Canada and see some relatives I’ve never met yet.”
Terry worked for the NHS as a nurse for 43 years but retired in April and hopes the money will give her more security.
She said: “This doesn’t feel real yet. It’s amazing. I wasn’t expecting it to be as much. All I was told at first was that it would be more than £5,000. It means I won’t have to go back to work.”
Postcode Lottery ambassador Jeff Brazier said: “The sun was shining on the gold envelope when I presented it to Terry.
“This was my first time on Millionaire Street, and it is a really dazzling prize.
“Bringing people joy and telling them how they are also continuing to help charities is still the best way to start the day.”
The lottery costs £12 a month to play and a minimum of 33 per cent from each ticket goes to charity.
On Saturday, the lottery’s signature Postcode Millions prize for £3.2 million will be won by one postcode sector.
It comes after a lotto winner who scooped a massive EuroMillions prize revealed she celebrated with a £700 shopping spree.
