An alert now appears in the app, telling Sky customers they should download and use the Sky Go app instead.

The firm has already removed the service from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.

Viewers can continue using the Sky+ app after the cut-off date but Sky will no longer provide any updates.

Some features have already been shutdown, such as Channel Favourites.

From May 30, the top rail of the app will no longer display the latest content from Sky but you can still browse for content via search.

Send to TV and app remote control tools will continue to function unofficially for the foreseeable future.

But if it breaks Sky won’t fix it.

The decision hasn’t gone down well with fans.
