WETHERSPOONS has added a new breakfast muffin and 99p coffee to the menu – and it will be available when pubs reopen this week.

The pub chain’s brekkie comes with a fried egg, bacon and American-style cheese sandwiched inside an English muffin.

The breakfast feast costs £2.59 although prices vary depending on the branch.

If you don’t fancy the full works, there is also an egg and cheese muffin, egg and bacon muffin, or an egg and sausage option too.

These are slightly cheaper and costs £1.99 for the egg and cheese meal and £2.39 for the meaty options.

They’re similar to the breakfast McMuffins sold at McDonald’s – and they’re cheaper too.

What’s new on the Wetherspoons menu?

HERE are all of the new items that have been added to the menu this week. Wetherspoons is yet to confirm prices for some products.

Breakfast:

  • Breakfast muffin – £2.59
  • Egg and cheese muffin – £1.99
  • Egg and bacon muffin – £2.39
  • Egg and sausage muffin – £2.39

Mains:

  • Carbonara pizza
  • Quorn nuggets wrap
  • Beyond burger
  • Simple steak
  • Signature steak
  • Mangalorean roasted cauliflower and spinach curry
  • Simple Mangalorean roasted cauliflower and spinach curry
  • Simple chicken tikka masala

Small plates:

  • Carbonara pizza
  • Quorn nuggets

Dessert:

  • Chocolate and salted caramel tart

For example, an egg and cheese McMuffin will set you back around £2.29 from Maccies, while a double bacon and egg McMuffin costs around £2.69, according to BurgerLad.com.

All four ‘Spoons breakfast muffins come in at under 500 calories each – the breakfast muffin contains the most at 499, while the egg and cheese snack has the least with 279.

You can add a hash brown to any one of the muffins, but bear in mind that this will increase the calorie count by 108. We’ve asked Wetherspoons if this will cost extra.

The pub chain has also slashed the price of its refillable coffee to just 99p, including cappuccinos, flat whites and lattes.

Pasta-lovers can now get their favourite dish added to a pizza too with Wetherspoons’ newest topping.

The Carbonara pizza is made with a creamy white cheese sauce, mozzarella, maple-cured bacon, mushroom and a sprinkle of rocket.

It’s available to buy as a small plate or as a main. Wetherspoons is yet to confirm the prices though.

Other new menu items include a tasty chocolate and salted caramel tart.

It’s not an option for diners who are watching their weight though, as each slice contains a huge 855 calories.

To put that in perspective, women are generally recommended to intake 2,000 calories, while men need around 2,500.

All Wetherspoons branches in England are currently closed to sit-in diners in line with the government’s coronavirus lockdown laws.

Pubs are allowed to welcome back customers this week, when restrictions end at midnight on Wednesday December 2.

But punters won’t be able to pop in for just a drink – businesses are banned from serving alcohol without a substantial meal.

Bar snacks don’t count, although yesterday a minister confirmed that a scotch egg will fit the criteria.

There are different lockdown rules in place in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland so it’s worth checking with your local branch to find out what’s on offer.

The new brekkie options will be available at 750 of the 875 Wetherspoons pub nationwide. The breakfast menu is served every day until 11:30am.

You can find your nearest Wetherspoons pub using the locator tool.

Punters will also be able to order from Wetherspoons’ Christmas menu when branches reopen.

Unfortunately, this year there’s no turkey roast but customers can get their hands on a chicken and stuffing burger.

In October, McDonald’s angered fans after launching a new breakfast roll before bringing back the bagel and wrap options to its limited menu.
