Backbenchers seeking meeting with Suella Braverman after prime minister sets new goal

Rishi Sunak’s change of government targets on immigration has prompted discontent among restless Tory backbenchers, with some now seeking a meeting with the home secretary, Suella Braverman.

It comes after the prime minister set a new goal of bringing migration down below the level he “inherited”, which was about 500,000 net arrivals a year when he took office.
