Apple warned iPhone users about a big warning sign on the internet

Apple warned in a blog post that sites containing a message in the URL should be avoided.

Websites that generate a red “Website Not Secure” warning are potentially dangerous.

The warning appears in the URL code at the top of the webpage.

Users can see the code at the top left-hand corner of the screen when browsing the internet.

Apple said that the warning is displayed on iPhone users on the Safari app.

A site may have the warning notice in the URL for three reasons.

The website might run an old encrypted code – encryption was meant to save user data, but old codes could hide potential theft.

Second, the website may be running an old Transport Layer Service (TLS).

Websites set up TLSs to keep browser information private when they reach their sites.

Old TLSs leave browsers susceptible to bad actors on the internet.

Third, the website may have asked other users for personal information.

Handing over personal information, such as credit card or government identity, puts web browsers in danger of theft.

Apple suggests to never put credit card information into these sites.

They also suggest that some sites may just need to update their coding – they offer to reach out to administrators at good companies with the warnings to let them know.
