A HIDDEN iPhone setting has been helping Apple users preserve their device’s battery life.
If you get frustrated when your iPhone loses power, then one setting may be able to help.

Dubbed Low Power Mode, this helpful iPhone tool helps to extend battery life when your device is running out of juice.
How does this work?
Low Power Mode works on both iPhones and iPads by reducing the amount of power that your device uses.
In turn, this helps your iPhone or iPad last longer before you need to charge it.
It’s important to note that when this feature is enabled, some tasks might not work until you turn it off, Apple notes on its website.
Below is a list of features that can be affected by Low Power Mode:
- 5G (except for video streaming) on iPhone 12 models
- Auto-Lock (defaults to 30 seconds)
- Display brightness
- Display refresh rate (limited up to 60 Hz) on iPhone and iPad models with ProMotion display2
- Some visual effects
- iCloud Photos (temporarily paused)
- Automatic downloads
- Email fetch
- Background app refresh
Still, the setting is very handy if you need to converse your phone’s battery life – for example, on a night out.
How to enable and disable Low Power Mode
To turn Low Power Mode on or off, go to Settings > Battery > toggle on Low Power Mode.

You can also turn Low Power Mode on and off from Control Center.
Just go to Settings > Control Center > Customize Controls, then select Low Power Mode to add it to Control Center.
Once you have done that, simply swipe down from the top of your screen and click the battery icon.
When Low Power Mode is enabled, the battery in the status bar will be yellow.
In addition to the yellow battery icon, you will also see the battery percentage.
After you charge your iPhone or iPad to 80% or higher, Low Power Mode automatically turns off.
