Marshall Group, the firm behind the amplifiers used by stars such as the late Jeff Beck, is more likely to double down on Britain than move away from it, its new boss has said.

It was formed last month after the British family-owned business was sold to Swedish maker of Bluetooth speakers Zound Industries in a deal valuing the combined group at £325m.

Under the agreement, all Marshall brands were acquired by Zound for an undisclosed amount, made up of cash and shares.

Jeremy de Maillard, who will be heading up the enlarged business, told the Daily Mail that he was ‘fully committed to the footprint in the UK’ – despite the company being based in Stockholm.

‘We will preserve and probably enhance that presence in the UK even more because it is so important to who we are as a brand,’ he said.

Marshall employs 200 people in the UK, with many working at its Bletchley factory. The firm was founded by ‘The Father of Loud’ Jim Marshall in 1962.

His children Terry and Victoria, who have been running the firm since he died in 2012, will own 24 per cent of the new group.
