A PINK-loving homeowner is livid after the council made her change the colour of her front door – or face a whopping £20,000 fine.

“Sad” Miranda Dickson cannot understand why council officials got “so angry” over the entrance following an anonymous complaint.

Left hundreds of pounds out of pocket after a forced green paint redecoration, the 49-year-old claims her home’s theme has been shattered.

The eccentric, from Edinburgh, told the BBC: “I can’t understand that emotion about the colour of a door.

“The pink door was the external vision to what my internal house is.”

But painting her door pink sparked fury among neighbours who blasted the job as “bloody horrible”.

Bill Giles, 86, claimed Miranda’s bold door “doesn’t fit in” with their properties, telling The Sun: “I think it’s an absolutely appalling colour and that lady just has no taste.

“She put online photographs of the whole house and it’s a decorator’s nightmare.”

But other neighbours backed Miranda’s door.

Iain Percival, 74, said: “I just think it’s something that people shouldn’t get too bothered about.”

Nine-months after the pink-ifying, Miranda – home from the US having left a job as brand director for Absolut Vodka – received an enforcement notice.

It told her in no uncertain terms the pink door on the three-storey Georgian Home must go – or face a monster £20,000 fine.

She took on City of Edinburgh Council to overturn the “disappointing” ruling but lost her case.

The council told her the door was not “in keeping with the historic character” of the listed building and she had until April 20 to change it.

Miranda – whose flamboyant house is full of bright pinks and greens – was forced to apply for planning permission to change the door to green.

The whole redecoration has since set her back an absurd £500.

The mum-of-two added: “To be forced to change it has left me feeling saddened and disappointed.

“I’m upset by all the energy and opinion it has caused… I don’t feel peaceful about it.”

The Sun has approached Edinburgh City Council for comment.
